Getting Started Begin by looking at yourself. What interests you? What do you feel passionate about? Perhaps begin by exploring this question first on an abstract level. Most of us have strong opinions and concerns on topics like the uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya, global warming, and health care. These topics are too broad to address in their entirety, but they supply direction for inquiry. Crafting the Question Often the hardest part of writing a paper is crafting a question that is at once interesting (fascinating!) and answerable--in 5-7 pages. One approach in the art of question crafting is to approach an abstract issue through one of its concrete component. The more focused your question, the easier your research and writing will be.
