Who here likes to take tests? Not very many and I am sure that you all have very different reasons for your answer. While there are not very many people that like to take tests, is that a good enough reason to abandon them all together? Not by itself. But there is plenty of other evidence out there that suggests that testing is not only a fun killer, but an educational killer as well. I, like many of you, attended a public high school and felt firsthand the burden of the “No child left behind act” and I watched teachers prepared students not for life, but for another standardized test. So today I am going to talk about why testing is not just killing fun, but why it hurts Americas education system, why it hurts schools, and ultimately, why it hurts students. 1. Right now Americas educations system is failing. a. This is evident from the many programs that our government is attempting. b.
