To: Professor Monica Schneider From: Tom Hohman Date: September 14, 2010 Subject: Defining the Issue of US Energy Policy United States energy policy has a lot of questions associated with it and almost no agreement on what the answers should be. Many Americans feel that something should be done to reform the energy policy or even completely rebuild it. The choices between going towards greener and more renewable options or to continue on our proven methods of fossil fuels have many pros and cons on both sides. One thing that both sides are cautious about is the cost of doing either (Public Agenda, 2010). Green energy supporters often argue their cause is to help save the environment and because of this they often suggest zero emissions technology for energy creation. These technologies include solar and wind farms. Some would support nuclear power but many are unsure of its safety. According to a survey done by Public Agenda, this group would favor making sacrifices and a reduction in energy usage over exploration for new energy sources (Public Agenda, 2010). Supporters of
