MOLECULES OF LIFE – WEEKLY PREVIEW #9 March 27, 2011 Dear students: Here is an overview of our course plans for next week. (1) STUDY QUESTIONS Because I’m still out of town, I don’t have access to all of my notes. I will post a set of study questions on MONDAY EVENING ( March 28 ) that will include all three classes on DNA – Classes 13, 14, & 15. The notes that you took while watching the NOVA video on Wednesday WILL be included as part of the course material that appears on exams. (2) CLASSES In MONDAY’S CLASS (#15) we will conclude our investigation of DNA by looking at the scientific evidence that led to the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA. This is probably the most famous scientific discovery of the 20th century and it had a major impact on the science of molecular biology and genetics. Indeed, all of modern genetics and biotechnology (such as genetic testing and DNA fingerprinting) are based on the chemical and structural features of DNA. As preparation for this class, please read
