MOLECULES OF LIFE – WEEKLY PREVIEW #10 April 2, 2011 Dear students: Here is an overview of our course plans for next week. (1) STUDY QUESTIONS Earlier this week I posted the study questions for the three classes on DNA – 15 . I have also posted study questions for our class on Wednesday ( Class 17 ). These documents are available in the STUDY QUESTIONS folder on the Blackboard site. As always, I recommend that you review these questions each week and write short answers to the questions. (2) CLASSES In MONDAY’S CLASS (#17) we will continue our study of genetic information by looking at the process of translation in more detail. A complex orchestration of molecular players is required to translate a sequence of RNA bases into a specific sequence of amino acids. Deducing the process of translation is an interesting scientific problem that also has practical consequences because it helps us to understand the mechanism of certain types of antibiotics.
