MOLECULES OF LIFE – WEEKLY PREVIEW #6 March 5, 2011 Dear students: Here is a preview of our course plans for next week. (1) STUDY QUESTIONS I have posted the STUDY QUESTIONS for Wednesday’s class (#10). They are available in the STUDY QUESTIONS folder on the Blackboard site. The material after Midterm Exam 1 becomes more challenging in terms of novelty and complexity. Therefore, I strongly urge you to review these study questions each week as a way to keep up with the topics in the class. You should write short answers to each question, which will help you remember the material better and provides a valuable study guide for the exams. (2) NEXT WEEK’S CLASSES In MONDAY’S CLASS (#11) we will begin by asking “ what is life?” and whether we can understand “ life ” in terms of chemistry. We will then look at the molecular organization of cells and how they ore organized into a hierarchy of molecules of increasing size and complexity. We will discuss how cells are classified into different types and how the technique of microscopy
