Emotions, Moods and Chapter 7 1. What are emotions? (p. 108) Intense feelings directed at someone or something caused by a specific event Caused by a specific event, very brief, numerous, distinct facial expressions, and action oriented 2. What are moods and how do they contrast with emotions? (p. 108) Feelings that tend to be less intense than emotions and lack a contextual stimulus. In contrast to emotions, the cause is unclear, last longer, more general, and cognitive in nature. 3. What is job satisfaction? (Session 8 Slide 6) One’s general attitude toward his/her job (perception) Satisfaction is a perception: if you perceive work is fair, you will likely be satisfied Positive feeling based on evaluation of characteristics (Page 20) 4. How does job satisfaction relate to productivity? (Session 8 Slide 6) They are correlated, but higher satisfaction does not necessarily equate to higher productivity.
