Preparing for Test II The test covers everything from up through Elementary Linear Transform Theory Wednesday’s discussion of “curves and derivatives” (In the online notes: chapters 6, 7 and pages 1 to the top of 19 of chapter 8, excluding section 8.5); (see, also, Homework Handouts V, VI and problems A -- C of VII and problem A of VII-Addendum). Most of the problems will be computaional, but some may be more conceptual, and you will probably have one proof/derivation). Calculators will be unnecessary. Reviewing the 1 homework would be a good idea. There are two parts for the test: the take-home part and the in-class part. The following refers to possible problems on either part. (Of course, you already know what is on the take-home part.) Know the basic terminology and notation. Understand the distinction between a “point/position” and a “vector”, and between a “coordinate system” and a “basis”. Be able to find the matrix of a given linear operator with respect to a given orthonormal
