Delay Management with Re-Routing of Passengers Introduction to Delay Management Introduction to Delay Management Most railway operator in Europe operate a cyclic timetable. There is no direct connection between every pair of stations. In the Netherlands, about 20 percent of the passengers has a transfer. Short connections minimize the nominal travel time of transferring passengers. In case of small delays these short connections can cause large delays if the connecting train departs on time. Delay management decides whether a connecting train should wait for a delayed feeder train or should depart on time.
