Be aware of Carbons C 6 H 12 O 6 C-C-C-C-C-C Transfer of energy becomes ATP not the atoms in glucose Phosphate is given up and ATP is made to ADP Reaction replaces some hydrogens. Each phosphate added to one 3-C replaces hydrogens These H (and much energy) are picked up by the carrier molecule NADPH reducing it to form NADH. (X2) Pyruvic acid anaerobic pathway o Oxygen dependent (Mitochondria) Electron transport (Cytochrome system) o Pyruvic acid aerobic pathway Makes ready step Krebs citric acid cycle 4. At end of Glycolysis o 2 molecules of Pyruvic acid Can yield ATPs only in presence of oxygen o 2 molecules of NADH Can yield ATP's only in presence of oxygen
