Week 5: October 4th, 2010 It was amazing to hear two different stories about two women (Aung San Suu Kyi and Meena Kamal) that are working very hard- risking their personal well-being in order to provide equal human rights for all people- especially for women and their full participation in society. Aung San Suu Kyi is fighting against a Buddhist that believes that men are closer to enlightenment in order to create a pro-democracy movement in the country. Movements have affected the way that society sees women because people will no longer question women’s roles in professional life- they know that they are capable of asserting themselves and making their voices heard.
