These dynasties were the Sui dynasty, the Tang dynasty and the Song dynasty, which included the Southern Song dynasty. Great advancements in science, literature, agriculture and other areas were made. The hand of power changed many times throughout the different dynasties. This age is similar to Europe’s Early Middle Ages. China was ravaged by disease and natural disasters as three separate kingdoms battled for power over each other.Sui DynastyThe Sui Dynasty occurred between 581 and 618 CE. By 589 CE, when a northern general named Yang Jian (also known as Wendi or Wen or Wen-ti)ended the Age of Disunity by conquering all of China and founded the short-lived Sui Dynasty. He “improved and centralized the administration system, established a single, unified, and less complex lawcode, and introduced land reforms” (M. Cartwright, 2017).
