Catherine Allen Tina Felty ART 105 1/5/11 The Critic Speaks The artist I thought was especially talented was Judy Miller. Her exhibition is currently in the Tucson Museum of Art. She takes photographs of wax statues. She uses wax statues of celebrities. Her type of work is called Imaginary Dioramas. When I first saw her exhibit I thought she was taking pictures of the real celebrities. Looking closer, I noticed that the people were just enough different from who they were supposed to be that I thought they were look-alike people. I decided to do some research on Judy Miller because I was very intrigued. I found out about her taking photographs of the wax sculptures and she uses Photoshop for the backgrounds on her pictures. After researching Judy Miller a little bit, I went back to the Tucson Museum of Art to look at her exhibit again. I noticed that in some of her pictures the background and the sculpture are disproportionate. In the piece titled Lucy, it is a picture taken by Judy Miller of Lucille Ball the actress in a kitchen and the kitchen counter is at Lucy’s shoulder but if the picture was actually taken in the kitchen then the counter would come
