EARNED VALUE MANAGEMENT 2 ABSTRACT Earned Value Management (EVM) allows a project manager to know the actual state of the project by comparing current project performance against the current project plan. EVM provides quantitative data for project decision making. Knowing the project's performance will allow a project manager to take the corrective actions needed to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. EVM integrates scope, cost, and time data to create a cost performance baseline. Knowing the cost performance baseline, a project manager and the project team can determine how well the project is doing in meeting the project’s scope, project’s cost, and the project’s time goals. The project baseline is an essential component of EVM and serves as a reference point for all EVM related activities.
