Ankit Patel Professor Hardy Partner: Shawn Becker Physics 1 Lab Experiment 4 Acceleration by a Constant Force Objective : The objective of this lab was to measure acceleration and force separately to show that they are both related by a proportion, called the mass. Data : (Refer to Data sheet on the next page) Analysis : The acceleration calculated (on Data sheet) compared to the measured acceleration were slightly off but within range. The same can be said about the force calculated and force measured. The Tension Force vs. Acceleration graph was plotted and the percent difference of the masses were also calculated. (Refer to information under the Data Table). Discussion : In the experiment, a cart with a motion detector and mass on it is accelerated into a stopper to measure the force and acceleration. The purpose of this is to see how different sized masses affect the force and acceleration of an object in motion. The slope of the velocity is measured through the detector which is just acceleration. A force is measured when the cart hits the stopper. Through
