Interview with a Teaching Professional 1 Assignment: Interview with a Teaching Professional Interview with a Teaching Professional 2 To enhance my teaching career, I conducted an interview with a teaching professional. The teacher was Mr. Greg Dickens; he is an eighth grade math, history and AVID teacher. The interview we had, enlightened me on decision making in the classroom and how to identify the characteristics of the classroom. The Interview Question: What are some examples of typical, quick decisions teachers make on a daily basis? (Axia College, 2005).

Answer: “When a student is off task or zoned out. I have to watch facial expressions to determine when to help a student to get them back on task. It is also important to be aware of the students’ feelings. Another issue is trying to turn a wrong answer into a positive experience for the individual. It is important to make everything as positive as possible” (G.Dickens, Personal Communication, September 30, 2010). Question: What were the five most difficult school-related decisions you made this week? What made them difficult? (Axia College, 2005). Answer : “Asking a student to go into the hall because he was disrupting my class. I do not like drawing attention to a student in fear that it will embarrass them” (G.Dickens, Personal Communication, September 30, 2010). “Having to deal with a student who took something from my room knowing he was instructed not to remove it from my classroom.
