NOTE Introduction to SPSS will be given in several parts (when necessary), following the progress in Decision Making class. In general only a basic functionality of SPSS software will be presented, in particular only topics that closely related to the Decision Making class. Overview SPSS stands for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Developed by Norman H. Nie, C. Hadlai (Tex) Hull, and Dale H. Bent at Stanford University in 1960s As of January 2010, it became "SPSS: An IBM Company“ SPSS consists of base system and add-ons (each add-ons is sold separately) SPSS can store data, run statistical analysis, draw graphs/charts (It is aimed specially for statistical analysis, not for complicated data manipulation/transformation like Excel) SPSS communicates through GUI, Syntax, Python, Scripts (we will focus on GUI). SPSS can read data from some other software, e.g. Excel.
