1 What is Health? Answer the following: In two sentences, or less, write down your definition of health. Are you healthy? What do you base your response on? Definition of Health The dynamic, ever-changing process of trying to achieve one’s individual potential in each of the interrelated dimensions (physical, social, mental, occupational, emotional, environmental, and spiritual). The 7 Dimensions of Health Physical Social Mental Occupational Emotional Environmental Spiritual The Dimensions of Health and the Wellness Continuum Figure 1.1 <<Insert figure 1.1>> Physical Health Includes physical characteristics such as body size and shape , sensory acuity, susceptibility to disease and disorders, body functioning , and recuperative ability . Newer definitions of physical health include our ability to perform activities of daily living , such as getting out of bed in the morning , bending over to tie our shoes, and shoulder checking while driving.
