ORIE 321/521/522 RECITATION 1 Spring 2007 In this recitation we review how to download the AMPL modeling language package to your com- puter (though you should not need to do this now); how to use AMPL to solve simple linear and integer programs. Students should work on computing assignments in declared pairs (as de- scribed in the course outline), or individually if they prefer. The instructions to install AMPL on your own machine are as follows. This will enable you to use AMPL either at home, or in any other computing facility on campus. However, in the two recitation rooms, AMPL should be fully functional. Open Internet Explorer. Go to www.ampl.com Click on Download the Student Edition . Now follow the instructions below to download AMPL. Click on amplcml.zip in Step 2 of the web page. Save the zip file to your Desktop. Close the download window and Internet Explorer. Double-click amplcml.zip to unzip it—click Extract all files , and click through the Extraction Wizard. Save on your Desktop the result-
