Lavallee 1 Jenna Lavallee PH 129 TA= Jess Vickery 21 September 2010 Film Response Paper #1 1. The two main points of the film, In Sickness and In Wealth , discuss the issues we deal with in the United States concerning socioeconomic status and health. The first point that was explained in the film is that wealthier people are generally healthier and live longer, compared to people who are not well off financially. The second point of the film is the problem that many Americans do not have healthcare, which is a main effecter in our country’s overall length of life expectancy. 2. The film gave many details supporting the two main points of the film. For the first point, the film talked a lot about how the wealthier you are, the longer you live. There is also a connection between wealth and level of education. In Kentucky, statistics showed that college grads live 2.5 years longer than High School graduates. A study was then conducted on how different districts in the town, which were separated by income, and it showed that the richer the district, the healthier the people were overall.
