Week of May 9 Chemistry (Blocks B, C, and D) Begin class with 10 minutes of silent reading. Students will write summaries of their readings in their Reading Journal. Discuss how forensic science relates to the study of chemistry. Introduce Lesson 1: Introduction to Forensics and the Mystery. Show the Discovery Channel School video: Forensic Detectives. Video is in VCR. Read Protecting the Crime Scene and do CHEMISTRY WORKSHEET: Protecting the Crime Scene National Learning Standards: After completing the unit, the student should understand: the structure of atoms, chemical reactions, interactions of matter and energy Objective: to relate the study of chemistry to everyday practices. Assignment: Forensic Science Crossword Puzzle. Begin class with 10 minutes of silent reading. Students will write summaries of their readings in their Reading Journal. Discuss the Unit 1 Mystery Synopsis: The Celebration. Read it aloud in class and have students hypothesize who the culprits are. Do
