CHAPTER 1 After studying this chapter you will be able to know: Explain the demands and rewards of being a supervisor Balancing everything, time for everyone, opinions, the work load Rewards can be high and demands low, but when demands are high and  rewards low, this is when you take a step back and look if its your fault or if you  need to quit Describe the contributions of four schools of management of thought Identify and discuss the major demographic and societal trends that will affect  supervisors Retired supervisors coming back in the work force Because of the economy Demographics, just as easy to locate a job locally or abroad Lifestyles have changed where fewer people are getting married and just going  under agreements Explain why supervisors must continually grow and develop as professionals What Does it mean to be a supervisor in Uncertain times? Successful Supervisors Develop the ability to balance the requirements for high work performance with  the diverse needs of the workforce Giving people flex time (like if they come in an hour early and leave an hour  early)
