Students of biol. 4301. Learning Opportunity to good to pass up Spring 2011. Biology 4301. The publication in the journal Science (Jan 28, 2011by M. Berkman and E. Plutzer) and the reporting of the findings of the research by various media outlets provides an excellent window into the never-ending culture war surrounding the teaching of evolution. I am offering each of you the opportunity to explore the exercise detailed below as yet another means to understanding the nexus of science, religion, and politics. 1. The problems illustrated by this exercise make a strong case for doubting that rational thinking characterizes mankind.
