Your task in this assignment is to evaluate this hypothesis using the GSS data for the year 1998 only . The two main variables are the following: hours per day watching TV ( tvhours ) and individual health ( health). Remember to report all evidence in your submission . Preliminaries 1. (5 points) Describe in your own words what tvhours and health measure. Consult the online codebook (link is available in the GSS folder on the resources tab in Sakai). Be precise. 2. (5 points) Do you think these measures are good measures of television watching and of individual health? Explain. Analysis 3. (5 points) Identify the independent and dependent variables in the hypothesis. Construct a table that shows the mean tvhours for each level of health. Report the table. Interpret the table. Does this evidence support the hypothesis? 4a. (5 points) Does the relationship remain after you control for age ? Construct a table that shows the mean age for each level of health. Report the table. Interpret the table.
