2. What is the “principle of utility” according to Mill? Explain what Mill means by
“utilitarianism.” According to Sandel’s lecture, which type of moral reasoning,
does Mill’s utilitarianism use?

on Mill’s “Utilitarianism”. Crisp states that utilitarianism is used by Mill as a
philosophical theory to mean well-being and what makes life good for
people. According to him, the usage of the term does not necessary refer to
the normal usage in the sense of the word which means useful[CITATION

In Sandel’s lecture [ CITATION Micna \l 1033 ] the kind of moral reason
which Mill’s utilitarianism uses is the consequential moral reasoning. As you
can see, the principle of utilitarianism focuses on maximizing happiness for
the greater number which is the exact thing with consequential moral
reasoning; which is by far the greater good for the greater number.
