This system of numbers includes all the characteristics of nominal  numbers. It also implies that larger numbers represent quantities that are  larger than the smaller numbers. However the amount of difference  between numbers is not necessarily the same. An example of this type of  difference is the finish order in a race. The difference between the first and  second runner may not be the same as the difference between the second
