Christopher Webb Group 2 Prof. Stansfield April 11, 2011 Summary Week 2 In the second week of presentations and discussions during class time, in this portion of protest strategies and movements, we talked about Constitutional Movements in America, Brazil, India and South Africa. The most intriguing conversation/presentation, was about the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa and as well as the African National Congress (ANC) which was founded by John Dube and Sol Plaatje. I learned a lot from this specific country on the struggles and segregation that were present in a dominant African nation. I really was intrigued about Nelson Mandela’s leadership, as I heard so much about him as a kid and seeing him on TV, yet not knowing really anything about him and what he has done. I also learned what the British government was doing to the Africans when they were pushed out of their land, as they displaced them in a poverty area that barely had water and food, created communities of struggle to come in their foreseeable
