Michael Short 02-15-10 IRD Prospectus Through my paper I will examine several articles from three different newspapers, the L.A. Times, the Register, and the New York Times. Within these newspapers I will pick articles written by both journalists employed by the newspaper itself and journalists who work outside the specific newspaper, such as journalists writing for the Associated Press. In examining these different journalists and newspapers I will be able to see the differences between journalists employed by the newspaper and journalists employed by companies like the Associated Press. Along with this my essay will examine the perception of articles purchased by the different newspaper businesses from companies like the Associated Press and decipher whether or not the different newspapers purchase articles with different perspectives. This essay will strictly be from the Watts Riot time period, so the articles will be primarily from August of 1965. Specifically, being examined in these articles is the language, and angle of approach taken by the journalist
