19:13 De Genova Legal differences creating racism between Puerto Ricans and Mexicans Institution of US Citizenship and Racialization intersect for Puerto Ricans and Mexicans Mexicans see Puerto Ricans as having benefits of US citizens (Welfare education etc.) Mexicans see Puerto Ricans as being lazy and not taking advantage of their  opportunities as citizens Mexicans thought more of as immigrants who simply migrate to the US while Puerto  Ricans are more so already considered citizens when they migrate because Puerto Rico  is a US Colony Different Social constructions between the two cultures make for some of these  differences Puerto Ricans not necessarily considered citizens but more so subjects Mexicans and Puerto Ricans see their citizenship as an aspect of how they consider  their daily lives Mexicans accused of stealing jobs Mexicans accused of using welfare and being poor status in the US
