The laboratory begins with the study of the basic components of life, i.e. bacteria and protists, and develops toward the characteristics of more complex marine life. Textbook : Ecology of Tampa Bay by: Ehringer Dates: The lab meets on Fridays with dates to be announced. The laboratory portion of this course will be several field trips as follows (locations may change and the weather may play a role as well): Gandy Bridge Site Fort Desoto Cockroach Bay One other trip will be announced at a later date. Reports from each field trip are required for the grade in the lab. An explanation of this will be given in the class. Grading: the course grade will depend upon attendance at the labs and reports from the field studies. Attendance will count for 30% while the reports will count for 70%. Failure to attend one of the field trips will result in the lowering of a students grade by two letter grades.
