(5-7 sentences;10 pts) According to Cobb, social support is considered to be information belonging to one or more of several distinct classes. There are three classes that Cobb refers to. The first class is information which lets the subject believe that he/she is cared for, also known as emotional support. The second class is information which lets the subject believe that he/she is valued and esteemed, also known as esteem support. The final class that Cobb defines is information which leads the subject to believe that he/she is a part of a communication network and mutual obligation. Then, as one’s life cycle approaches the end, support comes again from family members. This cycle proves as a system of protection and support for event crises and transitions
