Krista Ammons Hamlet The play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare has been cut in order to bring out the theme of Sanity vs. Insanity. Hamlet’s emotional state will show how he could be considered insane and show how and why Hamlet actually faked his insanity. This essay will give a clear explanation of the reasons the play has been cut and also bring out the theme of Sanity vs. Insanity. I first eliminated scene one of act one. I decided to do without this scene because later in the play we are introduced to one of the main characters (the ghost) without all the extra words Shakespeare gives us. This scene is just a number of men keeping watch and eventually seeing the ghost of Hamlet’s father, where later on in the play Hamlet and friends go to the same spot and experience just about the same enactment. I could see no reason to keep this scene because of the fact that it was pretty much repeated in the course of the play.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
