How to Begin a Voodoo Ceremony The essential purpose of Voodoo is the healing of the sick, service, and requesting from the Gods. The healing activities make up most of the religion. Healers use Voodoo ceremonies asking the Loa what the sick are afflicted with. The Loa respond giving name to the sickness and instructions of what is to be done in order to rid the sick from their affliction. Another important aspect of Voodoo is service. In Voodoo religion it is important to make sacrifice to the Gods in order to keep them happy. One must keep the Loa happy so the Gods will answer their requests and also keep the Loa from making their lives full of turmoil. Haitians that practice Voodoo must hold ceremonies to the Loa to ask for requests for themselves. Going through the Loa is the only way Voodoo believers are able to receive any of these requests for a happy and healthy life. Any Voodoo Ceremony must begin with service to four Gods before all others. Each God must be serviced in their order before a request can be made to any other Loa. The
