2 Key Assumptions All students  and independent school cohort Performance level results, QCEA 2005, 2006, 2007 Results for “All students” includes any student with: a valid score attending any Independent school that year all cohorts aggregated “All Students” includes approximately 4,000 students in 2005 12,000 students in 2006 17,000 students in 2007 Results for independent school cohort analyses includes only students who: were promoted one grade each academic year, from grades 4 to 11 attended a school, within the same school cohort, across all possible years for all years from the opening year of the cohort to the present for all years the student was in grades 4 to 11

3 Summary of Results:  QCEA 2005, 2006, 2007   Performance level results: a ll students  and independent school cohort All students For 2005, 2006, and 2007, and for every grade, it has to be kept in mind that the “All students” group includes a large number of students who did not attend an independent school in the previous academic year A trend of decreasing performance across years is seen in Arabic, mathematics, and science for the “All students” group for most grades While a trend of decreasing performance is seen across years in English from 2005 to 2006 in each grade, some improvement is evident from 2006 to 2007
