School of Mathematical Sciences   Higher Diploma in Statistics     Description of the Programme The programme is aimed at graduates with only a basic level of statistical training. It is a one-year programme designed to bring students to the BSc Honours level in Statistics, and can serve to qualify students to enter the MSc in Statistics or Mathematical Sciences. Content Actuarial Statistics I & II Biostatistics Categorical Data Analysis Design of Experiments Linear Models I & II Probability Distributions Statistics and Visualisation Statistical Inference I & II Survey Sampling
School of Mathematical Sciences MSc in Statistics Description of the Programme This is a one-year (12 months) full-time programme. It consists of eight taught modules and a research project. Content Students choose eight of the following modules: Actuarial Statistics I & II Bioinformatics Data Analysis Data Mining Data Programming Experimental Design Mathematical Statistics Multivariate Analysis Nonparametric Statistics Regression Stochastic Models Survey Sampling Survival Analysis Time Series Analysis Monte Carlo Inference Bayesian Analysis Students make an oral presentation and write a minor thesis describing their research project.
