EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE AND THE QUADRUPLE AIM
2
Assignment: Evidence-Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim
Introduction
Findings from an extensive body of research affirm on the importance of Evidence-Based
Practice (EBP) as an integral approach to improving the quality and safety of healthcare,
enhancing health outcomes, decreasing the on existing geographical variation in care as well as
reducing costs (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2018). EBP has been considered as an important
factor in achieving the Triple Aim in healthcare, which has now been expanded to the Quadruple
Aim. The Triple Aim had been aimed at improving patients’ experience of care, enhancing the
population’s health, and reducing the cost of healthcare. The additional aspect covered in the
Quadruple Aim is to focus on improving the work-life of healthcare providers.
