Library Assignment 4 : Be Reasonable! Instructions--One of the most important aspects of being a human being is our ability to reason. As we discussed, reason is what allows us to make inferences about the world around us, and apply those inferences--whether is is science or poetry, our reasoning abilities had a hand in it. Reasoning also involves looking at things without appraisal. Abraham Lincoln once said: “When I'm getting ready to reason with a man, I spend one-third of my time thinking about myself and what I am going to say -- and two-thirds thinking about him and what he is going to say.” Follow Abraham Lincoln ʼ s advice. Devote ⅓ of the time to thinking about yourself, and ⅔ of the time understanding what you are hearing. I urge you to keep your politics out of this assignment , and analyze the speech .
