Triple Alliance Essay
Previous to the First World War some countries felt that they
were threatened by other countries regarding there location and there
reasons to attack.
Germany always kept a close watch over France because they
figured that the French would be looking for revenge after the Franco-
Prussian war, where France had lost a fair amount of land. In the
year 1879 Germany, under the ruler Otto Von Bismarck, and the
Austro-Hungarian Empire formed a secret alliance known as the Dual
Alliance. Austria-Hungary had become angry at Russia after looking
for a neutral policy during the Crimean War, and Germany was
anxious to build bridges with Vienna after the Seven Weeks' War of
1866.
In 1882 Italy was angry at France primarily because France had
forestalled Italy’s advance by occupying Tunis. So Italy decided to
sign into the Dual Alliance now making it the Triple Alliance. The
Triple Alliance now was made up of Germany, Italy and the Austro-
Hungarian Empire. This alliance was regularly renewed up until the
