Purpose: To study the operation of a commonly used shift register. Requirements: Figures: Procedure: 1. Build the Shift Register Circuit of figure 3. Clear the register by momentarily grounding pin 1. Select the shift-right mode, and introduce a “1” into the right serial input. Apply several clock pulses and record your observations below. Observations: All the lights turn on after the several pulses. 2. With the contents of the register unchanged, apply “0” to the right serial input. Apply several clock pulses and record your observations below. Observations: All the lights turn off after the several pulses. 3. Repeat part 1 for the left-sit mode. Remember to apply a “1” at the left-shift input. Include your observations below. Observations: All the lights turn off after several pulses. 4. While still in the shift-left mode with all the output “1”, load “0011” into the register. How many clock pulses are needed to load the data?
