You may turn it in at the beginning of class or place it in my mailbox in the Statistics Building. No late homeworks will be accepted without permission granted prior to the due date. • Use only standard (8 . 5 × 11 inch) paper and use only one side of each sheet. • Homework should show enough detail so that the reader can clearly understand the procedures of the solutions. • Problems should appear in the order that they were assigned. Assignment: Read chapters 5, 7 and 8 of our text (the Fitzmaurice, Laird and Ware book). In addition, do the following 4 problems. 1. A non-randomized study was conducted in which 143 girls between the ages of 3 and 8 years were recruited to investigate the relationship between participation in artistic gymnastics training and bone properties. The study was non-randomized in the sense that girls were not randomly assigned to participate (or not) in gym- nastics training. Instead, 65 girls who had elected to enroll in gymnastics training were recruited along with 78 control girls who did not participate in any organized athletic activity. All 143 girls were assessed at the beginning of the study, prior to any gymnastics training, and then again at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months post-baseline....
