Name: Jonathan Ryan Course: CWV-101 Date: 7/11/2020 Instructor: Bob Greene Benchmark - Gospel Essentials A worldview is derived differently for everyone as it gives a distinct perspective of the world around them. The interesting concept of these worldviews is that there are multiple similarities that can be found. Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are all forms of theism that believe in one God. These faiths are the 3 major theistic worldviews and all believe is Jesus but have different thoughts on his role within the religion. Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism are all forms of pantheism that believe in the ability to reach a form of enlightenment through living multiple lives due to reincarnation. Atheistic points of view can reach levels of agnostic mindsets to uncertainty with scientific evidence to support worldviews. This essay will be about the Christian worldview and my personal thought process on this worldview. The specific elements that are the building blocks for the Christian worldview is the understanding of God, humanity, Jesus Christ, and the restoration of faith within man. God God is the beginning and the end, gracious, compassionate, praise worthy, trustworthy, and righteous. If you believe in the young Earth view, the old Earth view, or even the Theistic evolution view; God created the universe we live in, in 6 days. In the Christian worldview, God is their ultimate reality and he created man in his own image. God has supreme authority over man and complete power over everything (Topic 2, 2017). God’s presence within the Christian faith except at the same time there is. God is not just one but three persons within one. This is known as the trinity, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In Genesis 1:26 is the first time that God is mentioned in plurality (Diffey, 2017). When this is mentioned, God says that ‘they’ will make man in their own image. Man as their creation was given similar characteristics to the Trinity or God.
