1c) Value Chain Analysis of 99 SpeedmartPrimary ActivitiesInbound logistic The 99 Speedmart has applied the Lean Supply Chain Management systeminwarehousing which eliminates waste of resources and non-value added activities. A leansupply chain management will minimize the inventory cost and size lot and increase theproductivity of the warehouse. 99 Speedmart also uses the “Just In Time” Inventorysystemto utilize space and reduce inventory holdings to increase flexibility in the distributioncenters. The company always focuses on the reduction of unnecessary inventory for a betterarrangement of goods in the distribution centers with more than 1,000,000 square feet.Operations Currently, 99 Speedmart has practiced the Radio-frequency Barcode systemin theirinventory control. This technology is outmoded and error-prone (Class, 2019). Since thissystem takes more time to be more consistent with the barcode reader and also may causedamage inventory integrity, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systemis highlyrecommended to solve the problem above. An RFID reader can easily sense the movementof goods in the entire 99 Speedmart distribution centers. Therefore, 99 Speedmart can getbetter inventory control and save time for the warehousing process.Outbound logistics Furthermore, 99 Speedmart has used Advance Logistic Systemin delivery of goods (Teeet al., 2018).The organization has more than 250 truck and lorries for transportation anddelivery of goods since it mainly provides daily necessities products to the market. Thedelivery speed has a large impact on consumer’s satisfaction and needs. They canmaximize the space of the truck by storing the best mix of products so there won’t be anywaste of space. The organization also able to reduce transportation costs by loading asuitable quantity of goods without delaying sending the goods.
