Johnson Problem 1 A circuit board is being designed to include traces for carrying USB 2.0 signals. USB cables have a 90 Ohm characteristic impedance, so it is desired to design 90 Ohm microstrip lines for the board. The circuit board has a thickness of 0.16 mm and a dielectric constant of 3.9. The traces of the line are “perfectly conducting” (i.e. ± ² ³ ), and loss in the circuit board can be neglected. (a) Design the width of the trace to create a 90 ohm characteristic impedance. (b) Calculate the wavelength of 500 MHz signals on this line. (c) How long does it take signals to travel down the line if the line is 8 cm long?
