The higher the correlation coefficient the more related the variables are thought to be. Also, if the p score is < .05 than it is thought to be statistically significant. Being statistically significant means that there is some relationship between the values. The traditional selection method that Tanglewood uses shows that education is most correlated with promotion potential, and least correlated with performance and citizenship. Also, education is found to have a statistically significant relationship with promotion and performance potential. From this we can conclude that education is a good predictor of promotion potential. Also, work experience is highly correlated with performance and promotion potential, but only has a significant relationship with all four predictive variables. This shows that work experience is the best predictor of performance and promotion potential. The last predictor is interview score, which is 2 correlated most highly with promotion potential. The relationship is significant with absence and promotion potential. In conclusion, from the traditional predictors that Tanglewood currently uses, education, work experience, and interview scores are all good predictors of promotion potential. According to the new proposed method, education has a statistically significant relationship with performance and promotion potential, but is most highly correlated with promotion potential (very similar to the traditional selection method). Work experience is highly correlated with citizenship, performance, and promotion potential, and is also highly correlated with all three. Interview score is also highly correlated and has a significant relationship with promotion potential. Retail knowledge is highly correlated with performance potential and has a significant relationship with performance and promotion potential. Biodata also has a high correlation with performance and promotion potential, and has an extremely significant relationship with promotion potential. The applicant exam is highly correlated with performance and promotion potential, and has a significant relationship with both. Conscientiousness has a high correlation with citizenship, absence, and promotion potential. Conscientiousness also has a significant relationship with citizenship, absence, performance, and promotion potential. The last predictor, extroversion, has a high correlation with performance and a potential....
