B.  Customers Who: Students and Faculty Average Age: 18-22 Purchase Behavior:  Pre-made drinks: coffee, hot water, apple cider Pastries Hot drinks: lattes, cappuccino, macchiato, tea Cold drinks: iced, blended, tea Average Spending: $3 to $5 During our observation, we have found differences throughout the day: at 11am and at  7pm. For example, there are more customers at the beginning and end of every hour. This  is because students have just finished class or are headed to class.  Also, there are more  adults (professors, staff) during the day than there are at night. Students, however,  fluctuate around Julian’s at all times of the day: opening to closing.  C. Julian’s versus Starbucks Julian’s Similarities Starbucks - One cash register - 3 cup sizes for hot  drinks - 2 cup sizes for cold  drinks - Wider variety of pastries - Serve drinks without  lids - Located in the library - Customers: students,  faculty, staff - TAZO tea - Serve: coffee, tea,  specialty espresso drinks - Self serve counter  (straws, creamer, sugar,  etc) - Staff: students - Two cash registers - 4 cup sizes: tall, grande  venti and trenta - Healthier choices: light,  calorie counts - Serve drinks with lids - Located in the UU - More upperclassmen  because closer to the bus
