  MAN 4240 Organizational Behavior Summer, 2011 Syllabus Instructor:             Mr. Charles A. Viggiano Office: BA I 367 Office Hours:        Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00 am - Noon    E-mail: [email protected]  or [email protected] Title:        Organizational Behavior: Emerging Realities , 4 th  Edition, 2008. Author: ISBN:     978-0-07-304977-9 A course providing a micro/macro approach to the study of organizations by integrating  organizational theory and organizational behavioral science concepts. The field of organizational behavior studies and attempts to answer problems using knowledge  derived from research in behavioral sciences such as sociology and psychology.  We will look at  a variety of real world problems.  Examples include: (1) What can be done to make employees  more productive as well as more satisfied with their jobs?  (2)  What is the optimal structure and  design for a given organization?  (3) Why are some organizations more innovative than others  and what part does an organization’s culture play in influencing an employee’s creativity?  As we  answer these questions we will delve into the human side of the work environment.  It is this  critical element, the people centered orientation that forms the basis of the field of organizational  behavior.  Identify and understand the different management styles utilized in today’s  organizations; CONTACT  INFORMATION COURSE OVERVIEW REQUIRED TEXT COURSE OBJECTIVES COURSE DESCRIPTION
