Sasini, a major tea and coffee producer in Kenya is a very prestigious establishment. Not only is a member of the Sameer group of industries but the company has its shares listed in the Nairobi stock exchange. Sasini`s tea factory and plantation is located in central province of Kenya, Kiambu district. What makes it even more unique is the fact it also specializes in horticulture and dairy farming as observed by the freshian cow variety observed at the Kiambu station. The main variety of coffee grown in Kenya and specifically Sasini is the Arabica variety. Arabica does well in the highland where the climate is cool and wet. Sasini employs hundreds of workers whose work range from planting, harvesting to grading, milling, packaging, transportation and finally marketing. The traditional way of planting coffee is by putting about 20 seeds in each hole at the beginning of the rainy season.
