( other microbes / “small things”: bacteria, fungi, viruses) Microbes Break down nitrogen in the atmosphere genetic diversity is one piece of biodiversity Layers of Earth: inner core - solid mass of nickel and iron outer core - not as solid is inner; but still nickel and iron magnum Layers of Atmosphere: Stratosphere Ecosystem - a series of species that interact with each other and their living and non-living Living (biotic) Non-living (abiotic) Rocks Soil Water Air Thing that have recently died (dead leaves) Heterotrophs have to hunt for food Herbivores,- eats herbs Omnivores - eats plants and animals carnivores - meat Decomposers - eats things that have died Auto-troughs can make their own food Things that make Life on Earth Possible: Matter recycles itself One way flow of energy Earth has gravity 2 - 2 - 09
