ELCT 220 Spring 2011 Homework 2 (a) Two resistors are connected in series R 1 = 12 k and R 2 = 9.1 k . Sketch a circuit showing the series connection of these two resistors with a battery. Calculate the series equivalent of the two resistors. If the battery voltage is 9 V (constant), calculate the current. Using Ohm’s law, calculate the voltage across each resistor. Do the two resistor voltages add up to 9 V? (b) Reconnect the resistors in parallel across the same battery.

Unformatted text preview: Sketch the circuit, and calculate the current through each resistor. Combine the resistors in parallel, and use Ohms law to obtain the total current from the battery. Do the two resistor currents add up to the total current from the battery? (c) For the circuit below, calculate I 1 and I 2 . Use any valid method. R 3 = 4.7 k R 1 = 1.2 k R 2 = 2.2 k V 2 = 48 V V 1 = 44 V I 1 I 2...
