13. (a) The wave speed is given by v = λ/T = ω/k ,where λ is the wavelength, T is the period, ω is the angular frequency (2 π/T ), and k is the angular wave number (2 π/λ ). The displacement has the form y = y m sin( kx + ωt ), so k =2 . 0m 1 and ω =30rad / s. Thus v =(30rad / s) / (2 . 0m 1 )=15m / s.
